BEHALD
to look, to regard, to hold in view; to contemplate.
A place for contemplation and reflection.

The Field

The Field is the centre of the BEHALD experience. Five Core cards are placed together, each occupying a different position.

Each position asks a different question. Together, they create a sequence through which a situation can be examined from several related perspectives.

The Lens establishes how you are looking. The five Core cards give you the subjects to look at. The Field places those subjects in relation to one another.

01

ORIENTATION

What am I actually noticing?

The starting point for noticing what stands out in the situation.

02

CONTEXT

What surrounds or influences it?

What circumstances, relationships or assumptions shape it.

03

TENSION

What pulls against it?

Where there is conflict, resistance, uncertainty or another need.

04

RESPONSE

How am I relating to it?

How reactions, choices or assumptions affect the situation.

05

DIRECTION

What becomes visible?

What possibility, implication or next question emerges.

Five cards, one Field

The cards are not interpreted independently. Their significance develops through their relationships with one another, their positions in the Field, and the perspective established by the Lens.

The aim is not a five-card verdict. The Field helps move from several concepts towards a working question — something important enough to continue examining. The question is yours to form; the Field provides the structure through which it can emerge.

Direction is not prediction

DIRECTION asks what possibility, implication or next question becomes visible from what has been examined. It does not tell you what will happen.
