The Lenses
A Lens is a way of looking.
Before encountering the Core, you choose the perspective from which you want to begin. The Lens gives your reflection a starting point without deciding what the Core will reveal.
The way we look can be influenced by what we believe, what we assume, what we value, and what we expect. Choosing a Lens does not remove those influences. It gives you an opportunity to become more conscious of the perspective you are bringing to the experience.
A Lens is not a personality category, an answer, or an interpretation. It is simply a way of approaching what follows. The same Core concept may look different when encountered through a different Lens.
OPEN
Look without deciding what you expect to find.
SELF
Consider what this reveals about you.
CLARITY
Look closely at what is actually going on.
VALUES
Consider what matters, and why.
PURPOSE
Look for what gives this direction.
ETHICS
Consider what is right, fair, or responsible.
DECISION
Examine what is being chosen, and why.
AGENCY
Consider what is within your power to change.
ACCEPTANCE
Look at what cannot simply be changed.
HOPE
Consider what remains possible.
TRANSCENDENCE
Look beyond the immediate and familiar.
The Lenses are distinct, but they naturally overlap. A decision may involve values. Acceptance may involve agency. Purpose may raise questions of identity or clarity.
There is no required Lens and no Lens that is more appropriate than another. The choice is yours. You may choose the perspective that seems most relevant, or choose OPEN when you would rather not decide in advance how to look.
